The Stearman

The biplane that trained a generation for war.

The Boeing Stearman was America's WWII primary trainer — big, loud, and forgiving enough to survive student pilots by the tens of thousands. After the war they dusted crops and looped over county fairs. The sound alone is a time machine.

Fun fact

Over 10,000 Stearmans were built, and surplus ones sold after WWII for a few hundred dollars.

One might be overhead right now.
