Who We Are

Bogey is operated by Bogey Aircraft Radar LLC, a Vermont limited liability company (27 Bruce St, Winooski, VT 05404, USA). In this policy, “we,” “us,” and “Bogey” refer to Bogey Aircraft Radar LLC.

What Bogey Does

Bogey is an aircraft identification app. You see a plane, open the app, and find out what it is. That’s the core experience.

Location Data

Bogey uses your location while the app is open to show aircraft near you. Your coordinates are sent to our server to query nearby flights. We do not track your location in the background. Your last position is saved so we can alert you to notable aircraft nearby. We may also look at it at a coarse level, your nearest city or state, to understand where Bogey is used.

When you catch an aircraft, the catch records where you were when you caught it, so your logbook can show it on a map and score field catches. These catch locations stay with your logbook until you delete your account.

Account Data

When you play, we store: your username, avatar selection, catches/logbook, settings preferences, and push notification token. If you save your account, we also store your email address (or the sign-in you chose). If you play as a guest, the same data is kept under an anonymous account until you save it or delete it. Photos you choose to attach to a catch, and posts or comments you make in the feed, are stored with your account. A photo becomes visible to other players only when you post it, share it, or feature that catch on your public profile. This data is stored in Supabase with Row Level Security — only you can access your own private data.

Flight Data Sources

Aircraft positions come from publicly broadcast ADS-B radio signals — the same data commercial aviation relies on. Live aircraft positions contain information from adsb.lol, made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0. Flight route data contains information from the VRS standing-data project via adsb.lol, also made available under the ODbL v1.0. Aircraft registry data (registration, type and description) comes from the Mictronics aircraft database, made available under the Open Data Commons Attribution License (ODC-By) v1.0, and the public FAA aircraft registry. Aircraft and flight enrichment data is provided by AeroDataBox. Aircraft photos are provided by Planespotters.net and credited to their photographers in-app. During outages of our primary source, failover data may be served courtesy of adsb.fi and airplanes.live.

AI Features

Ask Bogey (our AI assistant) may send your questions to Anthropic’s Claude API for processing. The chat itself is not kept between sessions, but we keep a log of the questions asked and Bogey’s answers, linked to your account, so we can improve the answers. It is deleted with your account.

Crash Reporting

We use Sentry to collect crash reports, which include device information and the sequence of actions leading to a crash. This helps us fix bugs.

Analytics

We collect lightweight usage events (app opens, screens visited, catches saved, shares, notification taps, settings changed) to understand how the app is used. Each event carries a random ID the app creates for your install, the app version, your platform (iOS or Android), and, for layout diagnostics, rounded screen size and text size. Events never contain your location, messages, or anything you type.

To learn how people find Bogey, we may record your answer to “How’d you hear about Bogey?” and, on Android, the install referrer Google Play provides (for example, which of our links you tapped). On our website we count page visits and store button taps without cookies.

No advertising. No tracking pixels. No advertising IDs. No third-party analytics SDKs. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Purchases

Bogey Pro subscriptions are sold through the App Store and Google Play and managed with RevenueCat, which tells us whether your subscription is active and records subscription events (such as a trial starting or renewing). We never see your payment card details.

Data Sales

We do not sell your data to anyone. Period. No advertising networks. No data brokers.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data directly from the app. Go to Settings and tap “Delete Account.” Account deletion permanently removes all records from our database, including catches, catch locations, achievements, usage events, and profile data. You can also contact us to request deletion.

Children

Bogey is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
