The story
Bombardier launched it at the 1999 Paris Air Show as the Continental, then renamed it the Challenger 300. Despite the name it is a clean-sheet design, not a Challenger 600 derivative. It first flew in August 2001, entered service with Flexjet in January 2004 and carries eight passengers about 3,100 nmi, enough to cross the continental United States nonstop. About 450 were built before the improved Challenger 350 took over in 2014.
Its single-piece wing was designed and built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, a risk-sharing partner in the program.
