The story
The IAI 1124 Westwind started life as the Aero Commander 1121 Jet Commander. Israel Aircraft Industries bought the design, stretched it and later fitted Garrett TFE731 turbofans. Air ambulance crews, charter operators and a handful of air forces kept Westwinds working for decades.
Israel's Air Force flew the 1124N Sea Scan, a maritime surveillance Westwind, from 1976 until 2017. The same airframe that flew executives watched the coastline.
