The story

The MD-90 fixed the MD-80's noise problem with modern IAE V2500 engines, a longer cabin and a glass cockpit. It worked, but the market had already moved on to the 737 and A320. Only 116 were built, and after Boeing merged with McDonnell Douglas, the line closed in 2000.

Fun fact

Delta launched the MD-90 in 1995 and flew its final commercial flights on June 2, 2020. With 116 built, it had the smallest production run in the whole DC-9 family.
