The story
Britain and France built the Jaguar together for low-level strike, and it was very good at it: fast on the deck, tough, and small enough to hide in a valley. The RAF flew it from the Cold War through the 1991 Gulf War to 2007, and France retired it in 2005. India never stopped. Its Jaguars have been rebuilt with new avionics and are still on the front line, the last operational Jaguars in the world.
In April 1975 a Jaguar landed and took off repeatedly from the M55 motorway in England to prove it could fly from rough strips if its airfields were bombed.
