Norwegian Air Shuttle
Norwegian went from a small domestic carrier to a transatlantic disruptor to nearly bankrupt and back again. The famous Norwegians on the tail fins are iconic, and they've settled into a profitable niche as Scandinavia's biggest low-cost carrier.
Norwegian didn't start out as a jet airline. From 1993 to 2002 it flew only Fokker 50 turboprops as a commuter carrier in western Norway, and only then relaunched as a low-cost airline with Boeing 737s.
