B-29 Superfortress 'Doc'
One of two flying B-29s left on Earth
Tail number N69972

The story
One of only two B-29 Superfortresses still flying, restored over 16 years by volunteers in Wichita — many of whom built B-29s there originally. Doc tours the airshow circuit every summer, four radial engines thundering like it's 1945. Catching one airborne is catching living history.
Fun fact
300,000 volunteer hours went into Doc's restoration — it flew again in 2016 after 60 years in the Mojave desert.
