The story
The 767 program's first aircraft was a 767-200, which flew on 26 September 1981 and entered service with United Airlines in September 1982. At 159 feet it is the shortest 767. Boeing built 128 -200s and then 121 longer-range -200ERs, which carry extra fuel in the center tank, and TWA used the type for the first transatlantic ETOPS flights in February 1985. Most of the survivors now fly freight or charters.
On 17 April 1988 an Air Mauritius 767-200ER flew nonstop from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Mauritius, 8,727 nmi, setting a distance record for a twin-engine airliner.
