The story
Before the 777-300ER took over long-haul flying, there was the plain 777-300: a 33-foot stretch of the 777-200 that Cathay Pacific put into service in May 1998. At 242 feet it was 11 feet longer than a 747-400 and the longest airliner yet built, until the A340-600 came along. Only 60 were delivered, the last in 2006, and Cathay Pacific remains its biggest operator.
The 777-300 is long enough that it carries ground maneuvering cameras to help pilots taxi it, plus a tailskid for rotation on takeoff.
