The story
The CRJ began as a Challenger business jet stretched by 19 feet 5 inches. The CRJ200 swapped the original CRJ100's engines for more efficient CF34-3B1s, and 709 were built before the line closed in 2006. For two decades it connected small airports to big hubs across North America and Europe, and SkyWest is still its largest operator.
The CRJ440 is a CRJ200 certified for just 44 seats, built so U.S. airlines could fit it under their pilot scope-clause limits.
