The story
A two-seat light trainer from Pipistrel in Slovenia, built light and cheap to run so students can fly more hours for less. Long slender wings, a Rotax up front, and a fuel burn that makes flight instructors smile. Pipistrel's electric trainers grew from the same airframe family.
Pipistrel's first aircraft were flown quietly between dusk and dark in 1980s Yugoslavia, where the rules made flying them difficult. Locals called them bats, so the company took its name from the Italian word for bat, pipistrello.
