The story
The Long-EZ is Burt Rutan's homebuilt icon: wing in the back, canard up front, propeller pushing from behind. Built from foam and fiberglass in garages, it delivers astonishing range on tiny engines and still looks like the future forty years on.
In December 1979 a Long-EZ with an extra fuel tank flew 4,800 miles, still the distance record for aircraft under 1,000 kg.
