The story
The Tecnam P2012 Traveller is a twin piston commuter built for short hops between small airports. Cape Air asked for it in 2009 to replace its aging Cessna 402s and became its biggest customer. Up to nine passengers, one or two pilots, unpressurized, with fixed gear and a high wing for easy loading on short island strips.
Cape Air went to Cessna and Piper first. When both said no, it took its wish list to Tecnam, an Italian maker known for trainers, and the P2012 became Tecnam's first commercial airliner project.
