Spy planes and patrol aircraft
Reconnaissance planes collect images and signals; patrol planes hunt submarines and watch coastlines. Many fly long racetrack patterns or circle for hours, which is why they show up on flight maps as strange loops.
They're among the rarest catches in Bogey, and some of them only ever appear far from home bases.
How to tell them apart
Very long, thin wings and one engine, flying extremely high
A U-2 Dragon Lady.
A gray 737 with few windows
A P-8 Poseidon, the Navy's submarine hunter.
A long, rounded nose and bulging 'cheeks' behind the cockpit
An RC-135.
Four propellers and a long boom sticking out of the tail
A P-3 Orion. The boom is a submarine detector.
